Female, 3 years, dachshund/Tibetan terrier X

It took Nellie a good three days to decompress and to stop shaking. Since then she has shown us that she loves to be with her people, she is always close and will follow you around. If you don't like sharing your bed Nellie is not the girl for you! Nellie tolerates my cats and gets along with my dogs. In fact she would probably do well in a home with another dog to show her the ropes.

She desperately wants to be loved but in the same regard she also is still fearful or shies away from what that love may look like. She adores my teenage daughter and would probably do well in a home with older children. She has not been tested with younger children.

Nellie has some flaws; she is not fully potty trained and will go to the bathroom inside if not monitored. I have been putting her outside about every hour and she is doing well with that. I think it is because she drinks so much water. This should hopefully pass as well when she comes to realize that she will always have access. Nellie also is a barker when she is left alone so will not be for a condo or townhome situation, detached home only please. She is ok on leash but is nervous, time should also help with this.

Nellie is being fostered in Calgary.
