Burney

Adopted

Description

Male, 8 years, border collie X, 53 lbs

Burney is best suited to someone who is looking for a side-kick, partner, ride or die. He is an incredibly agreeable, affectionate and easy to please dog, and all he seems to want in return is to share a space with you, head scratches and belly rubs. All dogs have their quirks, Burney is no exception, but he is quite simply "an easy dog".

Burney is what we call an "excitable barker". He doesn't bark for no reason and doesn't 'alarm bark', but he does like to tell you when he is excited - especially for meal time. He LOVES to eat! He will tell you that he misses you when you leave him alone, but this doesn't last too long. He might not be best suited to attached home life, especially if he is left alone for longer periods of time.

He gets along great with everyone he has met. He has a 70lb foster brother and a 40lb foster sister who he tolerates, but he isn't really a playful dog. He prefers his people and just spending time with them. He is not yet neutered, and has romantic tendencies that need to be monitored around other dogs - just in case they do not approve of his flirtations. Hopefully after his surgery this will relax with time!

Since Burney is a senior, he is dealing with some aches and pains and mild soreness. He can be sensitive to touch in certain areas. Any homes with children should ensure that petting is gentle and only where Burney likes it - above the waist! This goes for other dogs too, he wouldn't be a good match for rambunctious play or dogs with high energy. He hasn't met a cat, but we think he would probably ignore them or at least not have the energy to catch them.

A few last things to note, he is a bit stressed by car rides so long commutes are not for this guy. He loves to walk and sniff, but until he is in better shape and feeling good - he prefers frequent short walks in between naps. He loves his naps!

If you are a home-body, work from home, with a mildly active lifestyle, and tons of time for belly rubs, Burney might be your new best friend!
