Hi. My name is Nellie and I think I am 2 years old. My foster mom that I am a great dog. My mom has two other dogs and I like them but I would like to be the only dog so I don’t have to share my mom’s affection. She also has a cat and I want to get to know him but he thinks I play too rough. I’ve never seen a cat before so I’m learning to be calmer around him and we will soon be friends.
My mom has no kids at home but I’m sure I would love them if they give me affection because I love getting pats and hugs!
My mom says I am a great dog because I like to be with my person all the time. On top of that, she says I am very smart and have learned words and hand signals with her. I learn very quickly because I want to please my mom and I love to get treats when I do the right thing. I even want to sleep on the bed but mom won’t let me (sigh). I love walks and really do quite well on the leash but I still pull a bit in my excitement. I love exploring and If there is an open door or gate I do like to take a walk about. I have had a few accidents in the house but I’ve got the new routine down now so be sure to walk me and let me out before bedtime.
I am a great watchdog. I like to let my mom know when people come to the door and I have a wonderful deep bark that makes me sound like a big dog! I am learning to stop barking when mom tells me too. Sometimes I forget though as I get excited when people come to the house. I love people and I just want to be with my forever people and have them hug me or let me sit in their lap. I may experience a bit of separation anxiety because I’m afraid my people will leave me like my previous owner did. My mom says that she doesn’t understand how anyone could give me up as I am the smartest and most loving pup she has ever met.
