Georgia is a very sweet girl. At home she is very relaxed – she doesn’t react to the doorbell or door knocks. She spends most of her time inside the house snoozing. She welcomes visitors by coming right up and politely asking for head scratches/belly rubs. She doesn’t bark in the house. Georgia loves being close to you and will follow you to different rooms of the house and lay down at your feet.

She loves to play with dogs, which means she can be a bit reactive while walking. She wants to meet everyone, but because of her size that can be intimidating for other dog owners. If she doesn’t get to meet a dog, she can react by barking and jumping. However, we are working on having her sit and let others pass. She is very good with dogs when allowed to meet/play with them. The only time we have heard her bark is when she wants to meet a dog. She also reacts to rabbits on walks.

She responds well to praise and happy voices. Georgia really isn’t interested in treats when outside the home. This can make training on walks a little difficult to reward good behaviour, but we have found that small bits of chicken hotdog can do the trick. For the most part Georgia is not food motivated and is ambivalent to the human food in the kitchen. However, she did try to steal the dishes that had held steak on one occasion.

She is house trained, potty trained, and crate trained. She communicates well when she has to go to the washroom. She walks on a leash, and is very patient for you to put on her harness.

We have been working on commands with her, including ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘let’s go’ (when getting her attention walking).

The best home for Georgia would be one with a yard, so she can hangout outside and relax. We are in a townhouse without a yard, and the size is okay, but it would be easier on Georgia to not need a walk every time she has to go to the washroom. Currently, she gets 3-4 walks a day to accommodate her bathroom needs. Normally this will include a longer walk for exercise and then a few short outings for bathroom breaks. While Georgia has been settling in she has done 1-2 poops/day and 2-3 pees/day.

Another request for her future home would be a cool space for her crate. She is a big dog and can get hot easily. She often likes to lay on the cooler tile in our home, or hang out by the AC unit.
