Darby is a very sweet boy who doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body but has shown to be anxious and fearful in new situations. At first he is very shy especially with men but each day he has opened up and shown his silly personality and how sweet of a boy he is. Darby doesn't seem to have much training as he doesn't know any basic commands and training has been slow since he's not food motivated but he is smart and is slowly learning.

He is a great adventure dog as he loves the outdoors and loves to explore (he is even very comfortable on a paddle board). He pulls a bit, especially when he sees butterflies and birds, but for the most part he's good on a leash and pays attention to you on the other side. Darby's biggest issue is his severe separation anxiety, we have been working a lot on this and he is getting better especially after he has had his body and his brain exercised. Although Darby is a high energy dog he's very good at having chill days at home, he loves to! He just wants to be around his people that he loves and chew on his toys. Darby would do best in a home with a fenced yard and I think another dog could potentially help with his separation anxiety (Darby has done great with all dogs he's met). He needs someone who is willing to work on him and has the time to slowly get him comfortable enough to be left alone. I think he'd do really well in an active home with lots of adventure and opportunities to try knew things but in a slow patient way. As he has lots of energy a home with older kinds would be better as he will jump and get a bit mouthy when excited. Having Darby in our home has been so fun and we will be sad to see him go but we are excited for him to find his perfect home with people who are eager to work with him.
