Petey's ideal home would be anywhere where people are willing to give him a chance and love him. He wants very much to be a part of a family. Understanding the decompression these dogs need is very helpful …Petey changed so much in those first 7 days … all good positive changes. He is a very happy boy. There is not a mean bone in this dog’s body. He doesn't really like to be by himself but there aren’t anxiety issues. The first day we brought him home he didn’t want to decompress in his crate in another room and broke out 😊. So, I sat in the yard and read a book and left him alone to decompress in our backyard … he could do as he wanted, come to me when and if he wanted … didn’t take very long for him to come over for some love and affection. He doesn’t really like his crate, but he will go in it. I only had him in it the first night, then I built a little corral for him where he could stretch out … he was much happier. He jumps up when he is excited … trying to train that out of him and he is getting better at not doing it, also he would do well in a home with another dog. He doesn’t like to be alone and whines if he is in the dog run… and on occasion he barks, again, training that away as well I hope.
If he was smaller, I would keep him … I will miss him very much❤️.

• He doesn’t like raw veggies 😆
• He loves to be near his people
• He is super affectionate. Loves to be touched and fussed over and wants your attention
• Quiet in the house
• Loves to play
• He learns quickly
• Walks well in a loose leash … I have taught him to sit when other dogs approach and mostly this is successful but not always. He is a very strong pup
• He sleeps through the night
• He doesn’t bark or growl
• Working on “come”
• He has never had an accident in the house, he always lets you know when he needs to go
• He is a big couch potato, doesn’t need or care for a lot of exercise … I take him in one long walk, about 40 minutes and 1-2 short ones, about 15-20 minutes
• Doesn’t like the heat a lot but likes to sleep in the backyard when it is hot. When the weather is cool, he is more animated, wants to play and go for walks.
• He loves being outside, even if it’s just to sleep
• He likes our pond and will go lie in it if given the opportunity 🥰
• Loves to play chase the ball and fetch the stuffed lizard
• Is great in the car and now that he knows that he is supposed to jump in when the back hatch is opened, he is easy to get in
• He is learning not to jump on me when I let him out of the dog run
• May be a bit scared of people initially but he is getting better. He may bark or growl at first, but this isn’t mean it’s an I’m scared just now. He got over this in the first 3 days in our home
• The more he is exposed to on our walks the more confident he gets. He wants to meet all the dogs he encounters and no longer woofs at people who are strange … he has been exposed to many new people and things
• Super friendly once he learns he can trust you
• He sometimes snores 😆
• He didn’t know or was scared of stairs when he first came, now he is fine with them. For the right treat he will try most things … I use the little dehydrated raw bits, he loves them
• Does he bark … not really, but on occasion he is a dog after all 😊
• House-trained … yes, he always lets you know when he wants to go
• Good in the car … yes
• Good on leash … for the most part he is good on a loose leash … he has learned not to pull for the most part but if he sees a dog he wants to meet he will try to go visit
