Athena is a darling little girl who is a wonderful companion. She is very well behaved and has the sweetest personality. She is the epitome of innocence with her big bug eyes and somewhat concerned looking expression. She looks at you like she is expecting something, and it is adorable.

She is excellent with children despite being a small chihuahua-mix. She is good with other small dogs, I'm not sure how she is with larger ones, but I don't see how it would be a problem because she is very agreeable and submissive in the pack.

She is house trained but is not the best with basic commands ("sit", "lie down") despite this, she is very well behaved and does not do anything naughty like jump up on tables or snatch food. She comes when called and is obedient. She enjoys her walks but is not super athletic and would be suited to people who like to go for short or medium length walks.

Athena has exhibited some separation anxiety; she will bark in her kennel when left alone. She will also scratch at the kennel door. This is not a big problem at our home because we live in a house, but it could be an issue if a potential adopter shares walls and intends to kennel her in the daytime. I actually think she would probably behave herself out of the kennel, this is based on her good nature; after all she is an older lady who is not into puppy antics.

Athena would be suited to a wide variety of people including older people. She would also do well in a home with a family because she is so wonderful with children. I could also see her with a single person or a couple as long as they provide her with adequate attention. Don't let her age discourage you, this sweet girl is a great dog who has a lot of life left and a lot of love to give!
