This is Remy. He’s a 15-year-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua x Dachshund). He’s currently being fostered in a household with 2 young miniature dachshunds, no cats, and no children. He has not been tested with children in the home but had no reaction to meeting kids on walks. Remy came from a home in California, where he was surrendered by his owners due to them “not having time for him anymore”. Remy was previously in a house with cats and did not have any issues - has not been tested with cats since coming to Calgary.

Remy is a sweet, quiet, old man who would love to find a loving home where he can relax for the time he has left. Remy gets along with other dogs and is very affectionate to his people. Remy is crate trained. He will stay in there when he needs to during the day and sleeps in there throughout the night. Remy has no separation anxiety and is a quiet guy when left alone. He is potty trained and will wait until he is taken outside to do his business. He is on a soft food / small kibble diet due to lack of teeth and senior age.

Remy loves to be pet, scratched, and snuggled but he doesn’t seem very interested in toys or treats. He LOVES cheese. Remy does not mind people touching his mouth, ears, or paws. He is good with nail trims and grooming. Remy can do a few stairs at a time but struggles with more than that and needs to be carried.

Remy loves to go for walks and will walk happily at your pace with his tail wagging the entire time. He does happy tippy taps when he gets his harness on. He is very easy to harness / leash. While walking, Remy will greet new people with a wagging tail in hopes he gets some attention. He has no leash reactivity and is a happy, care-free, old man while out and about. Remy loves car rides, in or out of his crate, and will relax quietly during his car adventures.

It appears that Remy may have some vision problems as he has a hard time with his depth perception. He sometimes needs lifting up or redirecting. Remy has gone to the vet and is a fairly healthy old man. No heart issues. A few benign lumps and bumps. He has some keratin build up on his ears that are being treated currently with drops. Remy only has a few teeth left. Remy was very calm and relaxed at the vet. Remy has also been groomed and was calm during his grooming appointment. The groomer said he was nonreactive to bathing, drying, brushing, and having his nails trimmed.

This sweet old man deserves a loving, caring home that can spoil him in his old age. He needs a home where he can peacefully nap for most of his day but still go out for a short walk here and there.

Adoption costs: $375.00
