Humphrey is one of the most loving dogs I have ever experienced. He constantly wants to show you his affection, strives to be near you, and looks at you with so much adoration through the kindest eyes. He is constantly wanting to please you by listening to sit, down, stay, shake a paw, etc. He waits very patiently as you set his breakfast/ dinner bowl down and will hold off until you give him the OK. He will let you know when he needs to go outside by sitting quietly at the door. He has had 0 accidents and I quickly trusted him to not be crated while I am out of the house; he is very respectful of his surroundings. He is happier than ever to be outside and on walks watching squirrels and birds, but he equally loves to cuddle up on the couch and sleep next to you.

Although he needs some work on the leash, he has improved drastically in a short time. I have been using a halti with him and it is a night and day difference. He tries to see what he can get away with for the first 5 minutes, but quickly settles and our walks are a dream to go on. He heels right beside me and quietly walks. I have been taking him to a private off-leash dog park and he absolutely LOVES to run around; you can see the joy on his face!

Humphrey has a high prey drive and therefore would not be able to be in a home with cats. He has shown signs of being excited to see other dogs on our walks, but he requires a slow introduction, and should be the only dog in the home. He would be better suited in a home without children as he is unsure about them. He rarely barks, but if there’s a sound outside he will alert you and quickly quiet down when you correct him. He gets a little anxious in the car and will whine, but will settle after a while.

I truly don’t know how this boy hasn’t found his forever home- he would be a wonderful addition to an active individual/ couple. He is full of love, zest for life, and would make somebody so happy as their sidekick.
