Kearney is the sweetest 30-lb shoe thief you'll ever meet! He is slowly opening up to the world around him and has already become so much more confident in new environments, both around new people and other dogs (he is untested with children and cats). He would do great in a semi-active family and thrive as an only child. It did take some time for him to warm up to his foster-brother, but with proper introductions and being set up for success, he would do fine in a home with other dogs. He is learning that love, toys, and food can all be shared. Once he learns that he is in a safe space, his favourite thing to do is snuggle into your chest and give all the kisses. He is truly the biggest cuddle bug and such a sweet boy. He will need to continue working on his confidence outside of his safe space.
Things we have learned about Kearney:
Although small, he has a mighty bark and will alert you anytime there is something outside
He is a chewer - avoid toys that can be easily ripped apart or leaving out any important items
He is a bit timid on walks and will stay close to your feet, but has not shown any signs of pulling on the leash
His zoomie hour tends to be in the morning right when he wakes up
He is house trained
He is crate trained but cannot have anything in the crate with him or else he will become destructive
He will resource guard at random times with his foster-brother, but has never done so with me and is getting better each day
He loves to run and be chased
He will say thank you after every time you feed him by leaning into you and giving you a hug
He knows very basic commands like "sit", he will need further training on basic commands and general manners such as jumping
