Jake (McFly) is such a great boy who will make someone very happy! He is such a good mix of active and chill; a great hiking buddy, loves his walks and chilling after burning off some energy. Enjoys being in the backyard, as he watches everyone go by. Sleeps all night and enjoys sleeping in. Jake will patiently wait for his morning and evening walks; has his set of puppy dog eyes, is calm and quiet in the house. He gets along well with other dogs (can be a bit picky), so he should be fed separately No resource guarding with humans. Jake is very obedient and will stay off the furniture if you prefer. He loves getting your attention, play a round of tug-a-war and just wants to please his humans!
The main thing he needs some help with is new people entering the house. Abuse in his past means he will need some help with this, and some measures in place in the meantime (greeting new people outside, or go to place, or crated when new people enter, etc.). Once he has a chance to settle, he's totally fine with the new people in the house and wants to be friends!
Jake has no separation anxiety and does perfectly well loose in the house for a full day of work. He does check out the countertops while alone, easy solution is to hide anything food related. Jake is doing well on his training and can go to his place, sit, give paw, lay down and leave it. He's very treat motivated and gentle when handed his reward, which is great! He walks well on a loose leash most of the time, sometimes pulling a bit if he sees a dog he wants to greet or has higher energy. Jake is doing well with heel and distraction training, treats always win.
Jake is such a good boy and needs a champion and best friend!
