Meet Alfie! The Great Dane mix with a heart as big as his head. This love bug is as quiet as a mouse - we have never heard him bark! He is an extreme people pleaser, always looking to us for assurance that he is doing a good job. He is a dream to walk with the leash staying slack for almost the entire thing. He will occasionally pull but is very easily corrected. He does answer to his name and has decent recall, but never strays that far from his people in the first place. He is wonderful with kids, being excited about them but oh so gentle at the same time. He adores our 4 year old daughter following her around the house and nudging her legs for attention. They can be caught snuggling together often. He seems very neutral with other dogs, engaging in play when he is engaged but also reads social ques pretty well and will leave them alone if they aren't interested. He is a very go with the flow, gentle loving old soul kind of boy.
Alfie is house trained but you need to watch for his ques to go out carefully for the first little bit. He is crate trained and very easily goes into his crate when we leave the house and doesn't seem to have an issue settling in right away. He doesn't like to spend the night in his crate but does sleep quietly on a dog bed all night long without incident. He doesn't seem interested at all in getting on any furniture, picking a blanket or dog bed on the floor when it's time to relax.
He still has weight to gain and loves meal time. He will occasionally try to steal off of the counter if he can due to being eye level with it and likely needing to scrounge for food in the past but one stern look and he will move out of the kitchen.
