Matcha is just a bundle of love, who is friendly, curious, silly and so smart! Her whole body wiggles when she sees a friend she hasn’t met yet (human or another dog) and gets so existed when she sees her people, she occasionally tinkles! Matcha is learning how to be a house dog, quickly picking up on potty training, and working on basic commands like sit and lay down. She is highly treat motivated. We’ve been attempting to teach her boundaries like staying out of the kitchen, but she finds it hard cause that’s where her people are! Matcha is very much still a puppy, so she’s less than graceful with those legs of hers, and she doesn’t realize that she doesn’t exactly fit in your lap, but she’ll keep trying.

Matcha loves to be around other dogs, and thinks all dogs are her best friends! Because she doesn’t know she’s no longer little, she would need supervision around smaller dogs, just to make sure she’s not knocking them over accidently. Matcha definitely loves a good wrestling match, so a friend her size would make her really happy, and help her burn off some of that energy! Matcha can be jealous when it comes to attention so we’re working on teaching her she needs to wait her turn. Matcha is currently being fostered in a home with a cat, she thinks the cat is great, and sometimes wants to play chase, but the cat is not interested in playing with Matcha. A home with a dog savvy cat would be fine, as Matcha is starting to learn her boundaries with the cat.

Matcha would love to have kids in her forever home, as she seems to get the most excited when she sees the kids walking home from school. She’s still learning not to jump up on people when she’s excited (she’s definitely improving), so she wouldn’t be the best fit for a home with small children at this point.

Matcha loves to be outside, and learning that walks are pretty great. She thinks she needs to greet every person and dog she sees on her walks, and is thrilled when someone stops to pet her.

We’ve successfully left Matcha home alone for an hour and a half at a time, with a walk before, and a treat puzzle to keep her busy, and there have been no issues. We continue to work on leaving her home alone so she gets used to it, and can be left for longer periods of time.

Matcha is not a fan of her crate, at all, but we’re working on it. Her crate is not her safe place at this point, so someone who is home most of the time, or can take her to doggy day care while they go to work so she can play with all her best friends would be ideal for her.

Matcha just needs someone who can be consistent with her and help her learn what’s okay and what’s not okay. She has been exposed to so many new things since coming into rescue and everything is still so exciting that she’s just getting used to it all. Once she understands what’s expected of her, she’ll be the perfect girl!
