Emerson is a sweet dog with lots of personality and potential. He does have separation anxiety which is why he would be suited to someone who works from home. Emerson is also on medication to assist with his anxiety.
He was adopted early Nov and lived with a female dog without incident. He was also housed with a female dog in the shelter in California without incident. However, after ignoring signs of resource guarding his previous owner left him and another unknown, to Emerson, male dog alone and there was a fight. We do not know who instigated the fight but the other dog did suffer some bad injuries. This is why we feel at this time it is best for Emerson to be in an only dog home.
Emerson exhibits no food aggression though he is very food motivated. He is not aggressive towards dogs on the street (or chickens in the hen house). He’s extremely joyful, he loves to play and cuddle. If you’re looking for a loyal affectionate dog, he really is a gem. He made it here all the way from California and he deserves another chance with an experienced owner.
