Cowgirl 🤠

Just look at that smile!!!

Cowgirl is a shy, but super sweet itty bitty Pittie mix. She was found on a highway in California so her history is unknown, but her facial scars tell a sad story. Thankfully she still loves people and dogs…she just needs a minute to trust they won’t hurt her. She’s very timid when you first meet her, but warms up quickly.

At barely one year old, she still has lots of puppy energy in her. She LOVES fetch! That’s her absolute favourite. She even loves throwing it in the air and racing after it all by herself. She also loves destroying squeaky stuffies, giving full face washes and snuggling in her donut bed on the couch. She happily hops in the car and is ready to go for whatever adventure is next…though she might need some extra encouragement once she gets there (stranger danger makes her freeze in place).

Cowgirl has shown a little separation anxiety, but as she adjusts to our routine, I’ve seen her relax more and more. I know she’ll continue to improve as soon as she realizes her people will always come back.

She’s a nose to the ground kinda gal, always smelling everything. We think she might actually have some English Pointer in her instead of Dalmatian. She does seem to have a prey drive now that she’s opening up with us in foster. She’d likely chase a resident cat, so it might be best if there were none in her forever home.

Because she’s so shy, and might take some time to blossom in her furever home, Cowgirl would likely do best with older children who understand going slow. The same would go for a home with other dogs. Slow intros where she has her own safe space to retreat to is key. While she is very friendly, she gets growly when she’s scared. And right now, she’s scared of all new dogs. She freezes in fear or growls quietly, likely due to whatever happened to her before her rescue. It’s short lived; she warmed up to her foster siblings by day two. Now she loves them and cuddles on the couch with my resident female. I think it’s only a matter of time before we see her blossom into a social butterfly.

If you think you can give this sweetheart her happily ever after, click on her link and set up a meet & greet! You’ll melt the second you see her sweet face.
