Meet Lizzie the 6 pound chihuahua mix who has personality exploding out the wazzoo! She Is full of sass and character and is sure to make everyone around her smile.

Don’t be fooled by her small size, she is brave and bold and is not afraid of anything – the vacuum does nothing to phase her, in fact she gets close to investigate what this other noisy machine is. Lizzie LOVES balls and toys and will play fetch until your arm falls off, and then will continue nibbling on the toys after until she’s ready for a nap. Her two settings are either 100% or 0, she does nothing halfway. She’s honestly so much fun and so sweet and bonds very quickly with her human; and she learns new people are friends relatively quickly (especially with treats).

Lizzie has shown some signs of mild separation anxiety as she can be a bit vocal when left alone in a crate/pen. This however is greatly alleviated when there is another pet in the home (only tested with other dogs for now, we are unsure how she would do with cats) so she would do best in a home where either someone is home most of the time to be with her, or she has a sibling to comfort her. Potty training has been going very well, she does give a subtle sign that she has to potty and will only have accidents in the home if left to roam too long alone or if you don’t let her out pretty quickly after seeing the signs. Given a bit more time to practice and training and she will be an absolute rockstar! She prefers to potty outdoors (just not alone), and has not shown any interest in using a pee pad.

This tiny ball of spunk is so fun to have around, however she is not shy in using her voice – whether she’s decided she’s a little nervous when a stranger walks into the home, she’s alone and feeling a little sorry for herself, or she is telling that ball who’s boss. We’ve been working on reducing the need to have a say about EVERYTHING and she has improved a lot but would likely do best in a home with a limited number of shared walls while she continues to learn that silence also speaks volumes.

We’ve had some kids come by and she can be a bit loud at first but does really well with kids, she’s ok with being picked up and if they can throw her balls and toys even better! She has not been tested with very small babies, but likely will be totally fine with kids 5+ yrs old. She gets along great with other dogs as they help her a lot with her separation anxiety, she’s done great with small and medium dogs so far and would likely do well even with bigger dogs as long as their play style isn’t too intense. She is still learning exactly how to play with other dogs but is doing really well and tries to initiate play with my resident chihuahuas (albeit unsuccessfully).
