Bio Update*****
E-Or has brought us lots of laughs and giggles. He is fun loving, playful and just wants to be around people. He loves his toys, rawhide bones, walks (not so much in the cold) and dog friends. Some of the dogs he meets take offence because when he plays he runs and barks.
We did treat E-OR special because of the lack of sight but it wasn't necessary. He leads on walks and always manages to find his way around all obstacles. He is a good jumper and does often end up somewhere he can't get down or won't jump down from.
E-OR has two cats in his house who he is very curious about, they have learned that if they don't make noise they can walk by him without being noticed.
Our week or two Eeyore has been a learning curve since we picked him up from Barcs Airdrie. It started with a frightened little 5 year old dog who (what I knew) has some visual impairment. It turns out that he has very little sight but it hasn’t deterred his enthusiasm to explore his surroundings. He goes for walks with a leash and it definitely helps to wear bells or walk with a water bottle with some pebbles in it. He relies on his sense of smell and hearing so walks may take a little while. We took Eeyore camping for a week and he enjoyed exploring off leash.
Eeyore requires much more socializing. When a person or another dog comes to visit he shows a lot of animosity by continuously barking. In his defence he is quite blind and might have been abused while he was loose on the street. It will take time for him to accept someone into his life. He is currently living and cuddling with 2 seniors, 1 adult, 2 teenagers and 2 cats. Luckily for the cats he is mostly unable to see them but when he does he barks.
It is remarkable that he is such a happy-go-lucky guy. He loves his toys and balls until he loses them. He also has a rawhide bone that he hides under blankets, in the kennel or in the couch.
He does jump on things and lets us know he needs help getting down. Sometimes he requires a loud no if he is starting to jump down from somewhere he shouldn’t. Eeyore has mastered stairs going up and now is going down successfully on his own. He goes outside mostly to pee and poop but occationally he sniffs around for something to pee against. A quick sharp No stops him immediately.
He has brought us lots of laughs and happiness and he could bring the same to you and your family.
