A little about Izzy, from the time we have spent with her: she is about 99% sweetheart. She loves, cuddles, scratches, and pets. She adores being in the company of people, and will follow myself or my son around any time either of us goes to another room or floor. He's had several friends his age group over, and she's loved each of them as well. I've also had some adult friends over, and she has greeted each with excitement. Maybe a little too much excitement, as she will jump up, but nobody seems to mind, and she calms down within a few minutes. This past weekend a friend of mine came over with her similarly sized dog, and her and Izzy hit it off great, and played pretty hard together for a couple of hours. The other dog may have been a bit much for Izzy by the end of the visit, as she seemed to be trying to get away for a bit of peace. Although, she'd then go right back for more if the other dog moved away. I was exhausted just from watching them play.
I haven't seen her around small dogs, cats, or smaller children, so I cannot comment on that. But thus far, everyone she has met, she has been very good with. She has let my son know with a warning a couple of times, that she didn't like something (like him trying to move her around or off of a piece of furniture)
She has not had a single accident in the house, and has done all of her business outside. She loves being outside, and even the -20 nights we have had of late have not phased her in the least. Even after a 30 minute walk, sometimes with a few sessions of running (well, jogging) within that time, and she's still sad to come back in the house and wants to keep going!
We got her an oversized tennis ball that squeaks, and she absolutely loves that ball. She will happily play fetch. She won't let you take the ball, but she will drop it on your lap if you stop reaching for it.
Within the house she is very quiet. The only time she barks is if she's in her kennel (she's not a big fan, as she wants to be with us at all times (possibly separation anxiety?), if she hears/sees something outside that spooks her, or if she needs to get our attention to go out, or to point at her harness to go for a walk.
She's great in the back seat of the truck, and will lie down after a few minutes. Longest trip so far was airdrie to cochrane and back, to take my son to his mom's for a weekend.
She definitely pulls on a leash, and wants to walk faster than me. We got her just as the poor weather hit, and I've been walking slower than I normally would on dry ground, due to the ice. But she has very much enjoyed the running sessions we have had. But she wants to sniff everything, and say hello (with jumping) to every moving creature we come across. She pulls extra hard to try to see other dogs, but has so far done well with any who've given us permission to approach.
She is very much food motivated, but has shown only minimal signs of food aggression. She accidentally nipped my son once when he was trying to help her with her puzzle, but i think that was more excitement than aggression. And she did give me a low growl one time when she was lying down with a bone-like chew and I was petting her face. But she totally let me pick her bowl up off the floor and move it across the room when she didn't like the noise from the dishwasher, which her bowl was right beside. No aggression there. She WILL steal your food though if you turn your back. Even nabbed a bit of pizza out of my hand when I wasn't paying attention.
She's made herself at home on every piece of furniture, and is very content to rest and relax. She doesn't require constant attention, as long as she is free to be in your space. She also enjoys stretching out on the floor.
I was able to give her a bath her first weekend here. She liked the scrubbing part, especially with some peanut butter smeared on the wall for her to lick. She didn't so much love the rinsing part, and wanted nothing to do with the blowdryer. She will also keep her distance from the vacuum, but does not attack it or bark at it. Just doesn't wanna be near it.
