šŸ¾ Meet Roland (aka Rollo)! šŸ¾

Updated on January 15, 2025

Introducing Rollo, the golden velvet boy who's eager to find his forever home! With his big happy grin, floppy ears and velvet rolls for days, Rollo is the definition of huggable. At 35 lbs at 14 weeks old with big ol' paws, we expect there is going to be lots of him to cuddle once he's grown!

šŸ¾ Personality: Rollo is a curious and playful pup who loves to explore and discover new things. Whether it's sniffing around the house or climbing snow piles, he's always up for an adventure and a good time by your side. In between his adventures he is a great napper, with some cute little snores to boot. Heā€™s totally comfortable being handledā€”being picked up, brushed, bathed, or having his nails trimmed (with treats, of course!). He's a brave boy, greeting the vacuum and hair dryer with a mix of skepticism and curiosity, although he will give the Roomba a hard time when it rolls by. He has gotten along great with our two cats. He wishes that they would play with him the way his puppy friends do, but he settles for a cuddle on the couch in the evenings, and an ear lick once in a while.

šŸ¾ Playtime: Tug-of-war and wrestling are two of Rolloā€™s favorite activities, and heā€™s not shy about playing with the bigger dogs! He still needs some help taking appropriate play breaks, but our dog is showing him the ropes and he's learning quickly. Although he plays hard with dog friends, he is extremely gentle with his little shark teeth and human hands. His other interests are shredding cardboard (that we have provided for the activity), chasing his tail, and chewing sticks in the yard. Interactive toys like lick mats, snuffle mats, and frozen feeders keep him happy and mentally engaged while the humans work from home. Heā€™s still perfecting his walking manners, the worldā€™s many fascinating smells are a huge distraction, but heā€™s making progress. Rollo is also a car enthusiast, with no anxiety or motion sickness so he will be a great adventure pup someday when he has a bit more endurance (and longer legs!). He needs a lift into our truck, but has mastered disembarking all on his own!

šŸŒƒ Crate Time: The crate is Rollo's safe place - he will choose to sleep there at night, and is more than happy to go to his crate for naps through the day. He is sleeping through the night with no need for midnight potty breaks. He is also a superstar at being alone when we are out for a couple hours - with the company of our resident dog, or all on his own. He accepts a frozen treat as tribute, and then naps until we get home without much fuss.

šŸ  Home Etiquette: Rollo is slowly working on building trust as a responsible pup in our home - he doesnā€™t chew on furniture, shoes, or plants, if provided with better alternatives. However, he is still a teething puppy, so if left unattended will play the "Does it Bite?" game, which he finds much funner than we do for some reason. Rollo is a quiet guy in the house, only barking during play time, and he has not been bothered by doorbells or people on the street so far. I have taken him into my office with me a couple times and he was a perfect angel and made zero disruption (other than being a cute puppy in an office). He has also shown great self-control when it comes to human food, never stealing from the coffee table (just staring deep into your soul with his sad blue eyes), and heā€™s caught on to sitting and waiting patiently for his food to be put down for him at meal times.

Rollo is a curious, loving, and playful puppy whos working hard at learning how to be a well mannered boy. With a loving home and some patience, he will make an excellent companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend and partner in crime.
