Misho (Sir Mixalot) is a sweet, gentle, and loving boy who just wants to be near his people as much as possible. He can be quite shy at first, but it doesn’t take long for his big, goofy puppy personality to shine through. He is very gentle and affectionate, enjoying scritches and giving kisses.
Misho gets along wonderfully with other dogs and does an excited little happy dance when meeting them on walks. He loves to wrestle and play with his foster brother, sharing toys and bones with no issues. He’s just as excited and friendly when meeting children while out and about but needs to be monitored to ensure he doesn’t jump on them. He has not been tested in a home with children, nor has he been tested with cats. He’s great on walks and hardly pulls on the leash. Despite being a California boy, he doesn’t seem to mind walking or playing in the snow.
Misho has clearly experienced hunger in his short life and eagerly devours meals and treats. Using a slow-feeder bowl and treat puzzles helps prevent him from wolfing down his food. Occasionally, he tries to jump on counters or explore for food and playthings, particularly houseplants, if left unattended. However, he responds well to corrections like "off" or "leave it." He’s very smart, listens well, and picks up commands quickly. With consistent training, we’re confident he’ll continue to improve.
He’s getting better at going outside for potty breaks and hasn’t had an accident inside since his first week in foster care. That said, he doesn’t yet ask to go out, so frequent potty breaks and consistent praise or treats for doing his business outside are essential.
Misho is being crate trained and, while he doesn’t always like going into his crate at first, he settles quickly with minimal whining. Giving him a treat puzzle or Kong when he goes to his bed helps a lot. He’s been able to stay in his crate for 8+ hours with no issues.
Misho would likely thrive in a home with a confident dog who can show him the ropes, but he would also be just as happy as an only dog, soaking up all your affection.
