Octivas, who we call Ozzy, is an absolute love bug and a giant goofball. A classic teenage male dog with a lot of energy and a touch of ADHD. He will absolutely need to go to a home that can exercise him daily. He would love another furry friend to play with/tire him out in the home as he is constantly pestering his furry foster sister. He is super friendly when playing and meeting dogs off leash (although other dominant dogs do not like him), but he is reactive on a leash and this will need ongoing work. I think he would do best in an active home that does a lot of off leash walking and/or lives on an acreage. Hiking/biking/running… he’s your guy! One of his best qualities is his recall. You call, he comes. Kennelling has proved to be a challenge for this guy, and he is now left out to free roam the home. He does well with no issues for an entire work day.
Octavis, who we call Ozzy, is a loving and loyal boy who is looking for a family to call his own. Ozzy loves people and is a super affectionate guy with a fantastic happy-go-lucky smile. He loves belly rubs, cuddles and following you around like he is your little shadow. He thinks that anytime you bend down to do something, it’s a good time to smother you in kisses. He is very well house trained, travels amazing in the car, and his recall is quite good (responds well to whistling and is starting to figure out his new name). However, we are working on manners with him. He does like to jump up when he is excited or tries to scam food off of the counter/table when you aren’t looking, but he is proving to be a quick learner and improving daily. He is great with older kids, but might be a bit too much for younger ones right now until he learns to curb his enthusiasm and exuberance. Ozzy absolutely adores our female dog and loves having a furry friend to pester and play with. He also tolerates and ignores our small 12lbs bossy male terrier as well. We have found that larger male dogs tend to react towards him and his energy level. That being said, he is getting neutered on January 2, which should hopefully help to resolve this. Kennel training is coming along, but he was clearly an outdoor free roaming dog before, so this has taken some getting used to for him. He only fusses now in his kennel for a few minutes, but then settles. He is a bit of an escape artist in his kennel, so his future owners will need to plan to invest in a solid heavy duty kennel. We do leave Ozzy out of his kennel at night and he is happy to curl up in a cozy dog bed beside ours. Don’t let the white colouring in his face fool you, he is a young boy with a lot of energy. He will need a moderate to highly active home who can insure he gets the daily exercise and brain stimulation he needs. He would do best in a home with a yard. His future home will also need to continue to work with him on leash. He is good at walking with a Halti or Sidekick leash, but has trouble curbing his enthusiasm when he sees another dog walking by and tends to hop and walk on his hind legs like a silly Kangaroo. Ozzy is an awesome dog, who just needs a bit of ongoing work, but he is eager to please his people and is a super loyal and loving guy.
