Pete the Friendly Giant
Pete is a dream to foster! His favorite pastimes include snuggling, butt scratches, and playing with ALL his toys. His love language is affection and human touch. He enjoys being brushed, stays calm during baths, and is relaxed while getting his nails trimmed. He’s excellent on walks and doesn’t feel the need to eat everything he comes across.
While he can be a little unsure in new situations, he warms up quickly. Building his confidence is key. Pete thrives in public settings like events or stores, winning hearts everywhere—even at his vet’s office!
Pete doesn’t bark or get overly excited when the doorbell rings. He’s not a night owl—you’ll find him fast asleep by 8:30 PM, sleeping soundly through the night without snoring. BONUS!
Pete would do best in a home with older children, simply due to his size and puppy-like nature. At 74 lbs, he doesn’t realize how big he is or how strong his wagging tail can be. His favorite spot is lying on his human while watching TV.
Although Pete hasn’t had much regular interaction with other dogs, he is VERY gentle overall. He’s always curious about other dogs we encounter on walks, showing no signs of guarding or aggression. He enjoys greeting my neighbors' dogs, wagging his tail at the fence. Even when one neighbor’s dog reacts aggressively, Pete remains unfazed and doesn’t respond.
With proper introductions, Pete would likely do well with another dog. He knows how to play rough but quickly softens when told to. He loves to roughhouse and often looks to me for reassurance that it’s okay, instantly calming down when asked. I can easily see him enjoying a canine friend to roughhouse with.
Now that his personality has truly blossomed, Pete is a total puppy at heart! Watching him play with toys in the yard is both hilarious and absolutely adorable.
