Missy Elliott is a charming, sweet little girl who is friendly and adorable. She is a very cute mix with beautiful colouring and a great personality. She greets members of the family with an enthusiastic dance and twirl. Her twirls are how she expresses herself--a prancing, fast twirl is her showing her playful side while a slow methodical twirl is her indicating that she needs to be let out to go to the bathroom. Missy is almost completely house trained. She had a few inside accidents at first when the weather was very cold but she has since gotten more used to going outside and will even stand by the door to let us know she wants out. One of her eccentricities is she does prefer to do her business on the patio or deck rather than the grass or snow. This habit may have stemmed from living on urban streets or maybe a previous living situation only had a balcony or patio. Missy Elliot was very quiet for the first few days but she does bark. She is not a fan of the garbage truck and will bark at it. She will also occasionally bark at people who walk by the house if she notices them. She was also howling at the smoke alarm which is completely understandable. Besides a couple triggers she is not a huge barker but she does use her voice. Missy is playful with toys, she seeks out balls and likes to chase her tail. She is good with older kids who give her space by letting her come to them. She does not like younger children coming up from behind her. She is friendly with guests and new people. She is good with other dogs and takes a more submissive position in the pack. She is food motivated but is not aggressive with food. Missy likes to spend her time under the desk or in her kennel that is in the office off the family room. She is not super attention seeking and does not want to sit on your lap for long stretches of time. She is independent and confident. When everyone is in the living room she will come out of the office every once in a while to say "hi" to the family but she will return to her solitude. She will occasionally find a spot in the room to watch TV with us, she chooses to not go on the furniture and seems to prefer dog beds or a blanket on the floor. Missy will follow me around the house and loves to watch me cook, she also likes to wait for me on the stairs when I go to the second floor. She is more of a shadow rather than a lap dog who wants to be babied. One thing to watch for especially in the early days of welcoming her into your home is to make sure she does not run away. Missy was a stray and still has wander-lust, she does try to find ways out of the fence when outside. Just be sure your fence is secure and she is supervised. One of my dogs used to do this and after a little bit of time she realized that it was not advantageous to run away. Despite her desire to wander, Missy is not that keen on leash walks. She tends to drag her feet and lag behind, in time I am sure she will start to enjoy her walks. Missy Elliott is a likeable, cute, sweetheart who will be a great pet!
