Meet Carl!
Carl has adapted to his new home environment quickly and comfortably.
He enjoys soft blankets on his very own couch or snuggling with as many people as can fit on one couch. He checks in regularly for hugs, pets, and kisses—he is very affectionate!
Carl is a fast and clever student, learning house rules and following them fairly well. Treats help!
He enjoys the backyard but still strongly prefers to go out for a walk to relieve himself, so we take him out every 3 to 4 hours.
Carl is very food motivated. He is curious and will always be by your side when the cupboards or fridge door is open. He still needs frequent reminders to keep his paws off the counter or table.
He shares a home with two cats and is very curious about them. He will sniff them and usually ignore them—unless they run...
Carl has not met very young children while with us, but he lives with a teenager (17), and they get along great. He has also met many new teenage friends and becomes instant friends with them.
He has been out to Bass Pro Shops and many other pet-friendly stores, where he is very well-behaved and loves meeting new people.
Carl walks well on a leash and has learned basic commands like sit, lay down, stay, and shake a paw. While on walks, he mostly ignores other dogs.
He is crate-trained for when we leave the house and at night while we sleep. Carl cries when left in the crate during the day, but when we return, he is calm and composed. He sleeps in his crate at night with no issues. The crate is in our room so he can see us—otherwise, he will cry.
Carl will match your level of activity. He can play and go for long walks or just nap beside you.
He will bark to alert you when he hears noises outside, such as the garbage truck, Amazon driver, or another dog in a backyard.
Carl has been very flexible and has adapted well to his new surroundings.
