After nearly 4 months in foster care, Manolo has blossomed from “what is a leash??” to “would you like me to heel, sit, or recite Shakespeare while walking?” This 1-year-old, 40lb shepherd mix is equal parts adventure pup and professional napper — think Indiana Jones meets a weighted blanket.
✨ Growth Highlights:
Went from leash chaos to strutting like a sidewalk model
Practices recall on long-lead sniff walks and checks in just for snacks (we didn’t teach him that — he’s just a little genius)
Graduated from “screaming about nail trims” to chill spa dog status (as long as there are hot dogs involved)
🚗 He’s a top-tier truck companion for long drives, but can also be trusted to hold down the fort at home while you’re at work. He’s crate-trained, x-pen savvy, and hasn’t had an accident in months — even in a apartment. Yes, he’s THAT good.
🦴 Manolo is thriving on enrichment (frozen Kongs, puzzle feeders, and interactive toys), but don’t be fooled — he will absolutely try to seduce you into more snacks with his puppy eyes routine. When it fails, he passes out dramatically in a blanket pile, where he looks like a fuzzy croissant.
🐕 Dog-friendly? Yes! He’s great off-leash with friends at daycare (his bestie is a basset hound) and has cohabitated peacefully with both big and small dogs. While he can get a little too excited when he sees dogs on-leash, he’s been working hard with a private trainer to stay calm, cool, and collected (especially when the other dog starts something — rude!). He needs a family committed to helping him keep building on this.

🎶 He knows the cheese tax song and considers it legally binding. He would sell all his worldly possessions (and probably yours) for some gouda.
🧸 Once invited on the couch, he rolls around like a dramatic theatre major doing “improv stretching,” then melts into you like butter. He is also the self-appointed Stick Police — and it is his solemn duty to stop mid-walk, inspect all sticks, and gently nibble them before carrying on. Please respect the badge.
