Sweet Giorgio is truly an amazing dog. When he came to us 10 days ago, it was literally tail between his legs and terrified. It took quite some time just to coax him into the house.
Now that he has settled in and knows no one here will harm him, his amazing personality really shines through. He is very loving and loyal. He loves being close to his humans and also loves wrestling and playing with our resident dog. He does well in his crate and sleeps through the night. It does take a bit of coaxing to get him in to his crate, but he has a toy that he only gets in his crate which has made all the difference. He knows “sit” and “leave it” and we are working on recall. He’s very treat motivated and eager to please do training him isn’t challenging.
Giorgio has a ton of energy. He would do well with an active human companion. He loves his walks and does well on a leash, and I think he would enjoy hiking, camping and other outdoor recreation.
He is young and this is his first time ever living in a house. He needs patience and consistency as he learns house manners. He is housebroken and hasn’t had an accident since his second day here, but he is curious and will take things off of dressers (hairbrushes seem to be a favourite).
He is also a bit nervous around men. He’s fine once they are in the house, but it frightens him when they come in the door or encountered on walks. He has never shown a single sign of aggression but will growl and either freeze or back away. This has improved dramatically in his time with us and I have no doubt will improve further as he realizes he is safe.
We will miss this dog when he is adopted. He is absolutely the sweetest.
