Hugo is the funniest, kind-hearted, playful , cuddly and resilient boy. After having his leg amputated in early February 2024, he bounced back in a matter of days and you would never know he is missing a leg. he does not either!
We picked him up from the Wings of rescue Flight and despite what a long and stressful day it must have been for him, he was so quiet, sweet and well behaved.
He is crate trained, house trained, and can do stairs without any issues. He seems to enjoy the car as well. He is food motivated, but not at all aggressive when getting fed or taking treats. He drinks a lot of water and does not appear to have any allergies or sensitivities to food.
He is soooo smart! He picks up commands very easily. He learned to do stairs within 2 days of being at our place. He has learned " leave it" , " come" , " wait", " no" , " stay" ( with hand gesture"), all within a week.
His recall is excellent! He enjoys training and eager to please. He is a dog after all, so can be stubborn at times!
He is getting along very well with our 7 year old female dog. However, at the moment is starting to get jealous if he is not getting majority of attention. So we are working on this, as he starts to bark at our dog or us. Thankfully our dog is gentle and could care less haha. He usually backs off when she growls at him.

He loves our cats, but whimpers and whines when they will not play with him. I do not believe he is prey driven as he has never tried to hurt them, despite some close encounters. He could care less about birds.
On walks, he does pull as he is so excited to get out there and really wants to run. So this will require on going work., and someone who wants to be active with him.

But he is great at walking with our other dog, and very well behaved when seeing other dogs. If other dogs start barking at him, as long as you are firm and tell him to " leave it" and " no", he will usually stop. But he is protective so keep this in mind with intros.
He is fence protective, but seems only this way with large male dogs who bark at him first.
He loves pretty much every toy we give him, and knows how to catch and fetch! Plays on his own but really loves when you play with him.

We have not seen any barking towards kids or other people at this point. Only when people at the door. He is shy and apprehensive at first, but warms up very quickly. He had is head on my sister's lap about 5 minutes after meeting her, and same with my husband, once we let him on to the couch.
He sleep through the night and is very quiet. He does take about 10 minutes or so to wind down sometimes, and will whine if the other animals around for awhile.

He does not chew too many things, but we make sure to have lots of toys and chew sticks, etc., around.
This handsome, unique looking boy will be the perfect companion to singles or families, and anyone would be lucky to adopt him. He is a loyal, obedient lovebug who we are privileged and honoured to foster !!!
