Valentino is a goofball who loves going on walks, playing with his toys, and snuggling on the couch.

While he appears to be mostly untrained, he's been a delight to have in his foster home:

Other than his toys, he is non-destructive. I've never had to worry about leaving him home alone.

He hasn't marked or had any accidents in the home. Granted, I am home a lot and able to let him out often.

He generally waits for permission before getting on the couch or bed.

He loves people — every person we come across is a potential new best friend in Valentino’s mind.

He is always up for an adventure.

That said, Valentino will need further training. This should be done by someone with a kind and calm approach, as he can be skittish in new situations. We’re working on basic commands like sit, stay, and down, and helping him get more comfortable in his kennel. He is food-motivated, which helps, and he also seems to respond well to clicker training.

He tends to build trust with women more quickly than with men. Men will need to invest a bit more time and patience to build that bond — but speaking as his foster dad, it's incredibly rewarding when he does!

Commonly Asked Questions:

How is he with other animals?
I haven’t tested Valentino with cats or dogs, but from my understanding, he should be in an only-pet home.

Is he good with children?
Good would be an understatement — he is great with children! Please see the attached video as an example.

Does he bark?
He can bark when he’s excited or when there’s food around. I’m currently working on this with him.

Is he housetrained?
Yes. He hasn’t marked or had any accidents in the home. That said, I’m home often and able to let him out frequently.

Is he good in the car?
He’s great in the car. I buckle him in and he either looks out the window, enjoys the view, or falls asleep.

Is he good on a leash?
He’s improving. There’s still some work to be done, but he’s not reactive in any way, so it shouldn’t be difficult to get him fully comfortable. He can be spooked by loud noises on walks. I’ve also noticed that he tends to veer toward the side where his eye is missing. For me, that happens to be the side I walk on, so he sometimes unknowingly walks in front of my feet. You’ll need to pay attention, as this can lead to a trip-up. I’ve found that using a leash with two handles helps minimize this and gives better control if he gets startled.

Valentino would be a great fit for a family with kids who are home often to give him the love and attention he deserves. While he still needs some training, what you’ll get in return is a massive cuddler who wants nothing more than to live an incredible life with you — and show off his ridiculously cute, speckled socks.
