Clair (Eloise)

Adopted

Description

Female, 9 months, terrier X

Clair/Eloise responds to Roo. Because she is a little kangaroo pup! She is the sweetest dog who would like to either cuddle all day, play with you, or go for a long walk/run. She has anxiety which translates in intense separation anxiety and fear of strangers. She will bark like crazy when around strangers or left alone. Anyone meeting her is going to have to give her time to get used to their presence before really getting to know her.
We have been trying hard to work through her issues but it’s looking like a behaviourist or somebody well experienced will be necessary as soon as possible to help her heal. We want her to have the best home possible where she won’t have to be left alone often and with people who have a set routine. Her crate is her safe space but she still needs consistent crate training if you’d like to leave her in it while you’re out of the house. Somebody active but retired or somebody who works from home would be best for her. She has a lot of spunk and long walks and fun activities are a must! Loves the snow and being outside! She’s a very smart cookie and has a little stubborn streak. She has been improving on leash but still needs training from a confident leader. Loves other dogs and always happy to meet them but she doesn’t understand personal space so she will put her paws all over them. This is the same for cats so if your cat is patient they should do well together. At home she is generally quiet, happy, playful and cuddly. In the car she would prefer to sit in someone’s lap and will get upset if left alone in there for even a minute. She is mostly toilet trained so you will need to show her where to go and watch for her subtle signals. Although she hasn’t met any young kids I think she would do well with them. She will make the right people very happy with lots of patience, training, love, and treats.
