Meet MK (a.k.a. Pirate)!
We call him Pirate because of his eye patch and mischievous nature.
He is a very high-energy little dog who needs experienced puppy parents—he’s busy, busy, busy! Always in play mode, he is smart, hilarious, curious, and good-natured, with just a pinch of naughty. He has had to learn the words “No” and “Leave it” because he puts everything in his mouth.
For that reason, he is crated when we aren’t home, and he does very well in his crate—quiet and well-behaved. He would do best with people who are home often to help guide him as he learns.
Pirate sleeps quietly through the night and loves a snuggle once he’s tuckered out. He would benefit from another dog in the home, as they help build his confidence. He does show some stranger danger behavior but warms up quickly, especially with treats. He can be timid yet excitable, but he is easily redirected with food.
Speaking of food—he is very food-motivated! If he could, we’re sure he’d try to get on the counter! He needs plenty of toys, chew items, and mental stimulation to keep him occupied.
And yes—his legs really are that long!
Do they bark? Yes, he is vocal about strangers and when playing.
Are they house-trained? Mostly—sometimes he gets too busy playing and forgets to ask to go out, but he is learning quickly and just needs patience.
Are they good in the car? Yes.
Are they good on leash? He needs more work, but he’s improving.
