Chyna đź’ś

This girl is tiny but mighty! Chyna arrived from Bakersfield, California on June 14 and needed a full escort off the bus because she was so shut down. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for her to come out of her shell once she settled into her foster home.

Chyna is about 2 years old and, judging by her appearance, a recent-ish mama. While her kennel card lists her as a Pittie/Boxer mix, she’s actually quite petite—almost resembling a Pittie/Pug. Don’t let her little beefy legs fool you, though… she showed her foster mom early on that she can jump surprisingly high!

We don’t know much about her past, but it’s clear she’s had at least one litter of puppies. Thankfully, she was already spayed when rescued, so her mama days are behind her. She has a few scars on her hind leg and tends to be shy around new people and dogs (especially men), which suggests she’s lived a tough life. Her go-to move when overwhelmed is to run to her kennel and hide, but she’s getting braver every day.

A few things we’ve learned about Chyna in foster care:

She smiles!

She snores (adorably).

She’s a super jumper — she cleared a baby gate without a running start.

She’s pretty quiet and doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety.

She has no real leash skills yet; walks are still a bit scary.

She loves to steal and relocate shoes and slippers — a fun game of “did Chyna take my shoe again?”

She loves pillows and anything that even remotely resembles a stuffed toy — and can destroy them in seconds, proudly.

She didn’t come with any house manners, but she’s quickly picking up the routine in her foster home.

Once she feels safe, she absolutely loves to play with other dogs — and when she’s ready, she goes all in!

Chyna would do best in a home that can be patient as she builds confidence. She’s friendly with people but still a bit wary of men and small children. She’s done well with multiple dogs in her foster home (with proper introductions), but she hasn’t been tested with cats.

This smiley girl has been a joy to foster, and watching her blossom so quickly has been nothing short of amazing.
