Natalya 🩷🖤
If she could speak, she’d have a heartbreaking pre-rescue story to share, I’m sure.
This tiny girl was found as a stray in Bakersfield, California, as a very young puppy. She arrived on the June 14, 2025, WWE-themed transport — all the dogs’ names were chosen by their sponsors — so please allow me to introduce you to Natalya Hart. We call her Nit Nat.
Unlike the real wrestler Natalya, Nit Nat is not fond of travel. Her journey to Canada was not her finest moment, with a puddle of drool surrounding her upon arrival to prove it. She hasn’t improved much since, though her foster mom continues to try. It’s not looking like she’s ever going to be an avid traveler.
Also unlike the real Natalya, Nit Nat has zero self-confidence in a crowd. She takes a minute before trusting new people. It’s suspected she’s a little younger than originally guessed (estimated birthday: December 2024). While she’s quite shy, she’s incredibly smart and eager to learn. She would prefer to play in her own backyard with her ball or at a private off-leash park rather than go on a walk and explore. Even short walks in her foster’s neighborhood aren’t something she’s ever enjoyed — too people-y for her.
Speed Dating Questions for Nit Nat
How much does she weigh?
About 32 lbs.
She’s SO skinny! Is she underweight?
No. While she does seem thin, her breed mix is the reason for it. She’s been in foster happily inhaling her meals and gaining weight but maintaining her tiny frame. She’s got an adorably large head with even bigger eyes on a tiny body. She always turns heads — but she is not underweight. 😉
Is she good with other dogs?
Yes, with slow, proper introductions. She’s very afraid and still learning to read other dogs’ cues — and often gets it wrong. She’s done really well with multiple dogs in her foster home and is quite the social butterfly when she’s comfortable.
Is she good with cats?
Not tested, but suspected no.
Is she good with kids?
Older kids would be best while she solidifies her house manners. She takes her ball and treats a little baby shark–like still and accidentally catches fingers every now and then.
Does she bark?
Very rarely. She’s a pretty quiet dog and saves her barks for when something spooks her. She prefers to complain and/or talk to you like a disgruntled teenager. It’s not overly loud, but she gets her point across. 😂
Does she jump?
She may be part kangaroo. She’s cleared a baby gate at the top of the stairs — going up. She plays fetch like it’s an Olympic sport. She can counter-surf silently, especially if you put her ball away up there. She parkours off the furniture when she plays with her toys in the house. So, does she jump? Lol — at this point, I’m convinced she can fly.
Is she house-trained?
She was a stray, then lived at an overcrowded facility, so this was probably brand new for her. While she didn’t arrive with any potty training, she has been a very quick learner. She chugs water like a frat kid chugging beer, though, so you’ll need to monitor her water intake until she settles in to avoid accidents. She’s learned to ring the bells at the door to ask to go outside and is also trained to go potty on command (on leash), as her foster lived in a condo.
Fun Nit Nat Fact: She’s super ball-focused and loves fetch more than anything else. Indoor fetch with squeaky balls, outdoor fetch with the Chuckit! launcher, Jolly Ball, Jolly Egg, regular balls — she will “fetch” anything! Stuffies, squeak toys, balls of all kinds, and even bones. She’ll need an amazing stash of fetch balls in her forever home! She’d also be a great candidate for agility training if she could get over her severe fear of the car (and car sickness).
This little girl had a terrible start, but as with most pitties, she forgives quickly and has happily moved on. She has so much wiggly-bum love to share. Bring a ball when you meet her, and you’ll have an instant bestie.
Can you be her hero? She’ll love you FUREVER! 🩷🐾
