Meet The Rock (Marty! )
Marty is an easy going, happy go lucky type of guy who wants nothing but love. He has been extremely easy to care for in every way and is what most people would consider the perfect dog. Just a big love bug. He is low energy - always the first one in bed and the last to get up in the mornings. If his head isn't on my pillow, he's usually cuddled up beside the cat or my two resident dogs, a pitty mix and a pug/ French bulldog. He prefers to sleep in bed with his humans as he is quite the cuddle bug but will settle in his own bed if he needs to. He is very respectful of the cat and doesn't show much interest in him other than sometimes giving him a kiss or two when they cross paths! He really enjoys the company of others (humans or other animals) and wants to say hi to anyone and everyone he encounters. If it was up to him he would be glued to his humans side! We are working on recall as he is still learning his name but he is getting the hang of it pretty quickly and does listen when called most of the time. He does pull a bit on leash and hasn't fully grasped "sit" or "lay down" but is trying his best! I have been keeping him in a kennel when I am gone for longer periods of time and he just chills. No whining, barking or fussing. A kennel is definitely not necessary as he is not destructive or get into things, I just leave it for him as his own little safe space. He is fully house trained and takes himself to the back door when he needs to do his business. He also loves to tag along for car rides remains cool, calm and collected. Marty just recently discovered how to play with toys and a ball has been go to! While playing he'll get the occasional case of zoomies but then requires a nap immediately after. As mentioned, he is definitely low energy!
He is friendly with other dogs but can become slightly reactive if a dog is being super rowdy and invasive of his space. He still remains quite calm in these situations and is very easy to keep under control and redirect. No barking or growling just a bit of pulling and uncomfortable body language. He hasn't showed any signs of aggression but also seems to get a little on edge when my large male dog is outside chasing the ball like crazy. He will sometimes run after him, stand up on him, gently try to take the ball from his mouth and appears to be trying to dominate him. He has not displayed any of these behaviors with my small female, therefor, he may be better suited in a home where he is the only male. Whoever ends up with this guy should feel honoured to have such a special pup.
