Darling Deanah (pronounced Dee-nah) — straight out of Egypt and adapting to Canadian life like a boss! This pup has an incredible rescue story and charms the hearts of everyone she meets.

Having survived against all odds, this little pup is a true overcomer. She loves people, affection, and big bully sticks! Given everything she’s been through, she has a little (not a lot) separation anxiety and would likely do best with someone who works from home or has a companion pup to keep her company.

She gets along with almost every dog she’s met so far but will stand her ground if another dog gets too close to her “safe spots” (like her blankie or under the bed) or tries to sneak one of her chews. She’s food-motivated in spirit, but hasn’t quite connected that with training just yet — though we’ve made great progress learning to sit for liver treats or kibble.

Deanah is crate trained and sleeps through the night like a champ. She’s not a huge fan of daytime crating, but she does well with free roaming and isn’t destructive when left alone. That said, she really enjoys the company of another dog or human and prefers not to be left completely on her own.

She is house-trained and has only had the occasional accident — usually when she couldn’t figure out how to signal she needed to go outside. (Also worth noting: she is not a fan of grass — not too surprising for a pup from the desert!)

Deanah walks well on a leash and enjoys getting out, but she’s just as content being a couch potato. Play is still a bit foreign to her, but when she’s really happy, she breaks out some adorable zoomies — so we think learning to play is just around the corner.

She hasn’t been tested around children or cats, but her original rescue noted she was good with kids. She can have a feisty little bark, but it doesn’t last long — it’s just part of her protective instincts from her past life.

She loves car rides and new adventures. She’s pretty fearless and generally does well around bigger dogs, though she’ll let them know if they cross a boundary. Overall, she’s been very tolerant and adaptable.

Deanah is an absolute delight and will make someone’s life that much brighter. 💛
