🌸 Meet Omari – A Gentle Soul Ready to Bloom 🌸
Omari is a beautiful, medium-sized girl who has traveled all the way from Egypt in search of a safe, loving forever home. She’s a quiet, sensitive spirit who is slowly learning that the world can be a kind and gentle place.
🧡 Personality & Temperament
Omari is naturally timid and takes her time to feel safe in new environments. She is more comfortable around women and has formed a strong bond with her female foster. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly loyal and affectionate. She’s been making steady progress every day—playing with the resident dog, showing interest in toys, and even enjoying her favorite treat: bully sticks!
She finds comfort in small, cozy areas of the home and gravitates toward quiet corners where she can feel secure. She has also been allowed on the furniture in her foster home, where she loves to curl up and relax. If you prefer a no-dogs-on-the-couch policy, Omari may not be the best match.
🐾 Dog-Friendly
Omari gets along wonderfully with the foster family’s confident, well-adjusted male corgi. His presence has helped her come out of her shell, and she would likely thrive in a home with a calm, friendly small/medium sized male dog. She has not had any contact with female dogs in her foster home, so her compatibility with them is unknown.
🎓 Trainability
While Omari isn’t especially food-motivated, she is very eager to please and has already shown promising signs of being highly trainable. She quickly learned the command for “crate” and is working on basic commands. She waits politely for her meals and responds well to gentle, consistent guidance. With time and trust, she’ll likely become a well-mannered and responsive companion.
🏡 Home Requirements
Due to her shy nature, Omari would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with patient adopters who understand that she will need time—possibly weeks or even months—to fully settle in. She is not yet ready for walks and will need a secure yard or a very cautious approach to outdoor time, as she is a flight risk until she gains confidence.
🧥 Care Needs
Omari has a soft, medium-length coat that sheds and will require regular grooming. Coming from a warm climate, she may need a cozy jacket and boots for Alberta’s colder months.
🚪 Inside the Home
Housetrained and crate trained (quiet and content in her crate)
No signs of food guarding
Barks when startled or when someone enters the home—this is her way of expressing uncertainty
Stands calmly for baths and paw wiping
Shows signs of prey drive (loves to chase birds!)
Untested with cats, but may do well with slow, proper introductions
Has not met children; a calm, child-free home is preferred
🕰️ Separation & Routine
Omari is still learning that it’s okay when her trusted person leaves the house. She is nervous when her foster leaves but is gradually becoming more relaxed as she learns that they always return. Her foster has been practicing short and longer absences, always returning calmly to help normalize departures and arrivals. Omari has not been left completely alone—there is usually someone at home, and when her foster is away, she is either crated or left loose with others present to reassure her. Continued support in building her confidence around alone time will be important in her forever home.
💖 What She Needs Most
Omari needs a home that will give her the time and space to decompress and blossom at her own pace. She’s not the kind of dog who will jump into your lap on day one—but if you give her your patience and kindness, she will reward you with deep, unwavering loyalty and love.
