🐾 Meet Tammy Wynette (AKA Jo) — A Tiny Dog with a Huge Heart Learning to Trust Again 🐾

Jo is a sweet, timid, and incredibly resilient little girl who is just beginning to learn what it means to feel safe, loved, and free. Rescued from a heartbreaking situation of abandonment and neglect, Jo has spent the last week slowly decompressing and observing the world around her with cautious curiosity. Every day, she comes a little more out of her shell, revealing her playful, loyal, and silly side.

🌟 About Jo:

Age: Young adult

Breed: Chihuahua mix

Size: Small (fits perfectly in a couch nook or a travel high chair!)

Good with:

✅ Cats: Yes — she ignores them

✅ Dogs: Yes — especially dogs her size

🚫 Young Children: Not recommended

❓Men: Very fearful — best in female-dominant households

🧡 Jo’s Personality:

Jo is incredibly smart and eager to please, often watching your other dogs to learn how to “dog” better. She’s started to chase the ball after watching them play and follows their cues beautifully. She's happiest when she's around other small dogs she can play with, napping in her cozy kennel, or nestled in the couch crease where the back meets the seat.

She loves food, gentle hands, soft naps, short walks, and… jumping like a kangaroo when she’s excited (we almost named her “Roo” because of this!).

Jo loves her person and often shows affection with gentle nibbles on your fingers — a sweet, quiet way she’s learning to connect.

🚗 Other Great Traits:

Potty training: Getting there! She’s learning fast by following the pack’s routine. No overnight accidents.

Kennel trained: Yes — her kennel is her safe space.

Good in the car: Yes — rides quietly in her travel highchair.

Barks? Occasionally, mostly at men or surprises — but easily redirected.

Leash trained: Still learning; a little squirrely, but improving with each walk.

💔 What Jo’s Healing From:

Jo likely experienced trauma around food and men. She’s very protective of her food and will inhale it quickly and run to hide. With time, she’s started to trust her foster by allowing closer proximity during meals — a huge step forward. She’s also extremely wary of men, often retreating to her kennel until the perceived threat has passed. For this reason, she needs a female-dominant home where her trust can continue to grow gently and at her pace.

🏡 Jo’s Ideal Home:

Jo would thrive in a quiet, calm, and female-led household — ideally with another confident small dog she can learn from. She is incredibly loyal once she trusts you, and her ideal adopter is patient, soft-spoken, and emotionally available to help her continue blossoming.

A house with a “gentle energy” — the kind where routines are predictable, love is freely given, and no one raises their voice — would be Jo’s paradise.

💌 If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a little soul with big potential, Jo is ready to meet you.

Watching her grow into joy and safety is nothing short of magical. She’s not just a rescue dog — she’s a reminder of how powerful love, patience, and a second chance can be.
