đź’• Meet Patty Loveless đź’•
Patty is just about the sweetest little lady ever. She loves her humans and has become an expert-level cuddler—she just collapses into you when you hold her, and it melts your heart for sure. Patty is happy, caring, and wants nothing more than to love and be loved. She’s perpetually upbeat—nothing seems to get her down.
Patty also sports a little mohawk. I thought it would go down after a bath or two, but it hasn’t. She’s the punk rock chick with a heart of gold. She still has a bit of puppy energy, but it’s super endearing. I call her my little model because she’s all legs and long neck, and she prances when she walks. What a special girl!
Patty has had some tough years leading up to her trip to Calgary and, as a result, she’s a bit behind in some of her socialization and manners. That said, she’s settling in more every day and becoming easier going all the time.
✨ Highlights & Progress
Weight: Patty came in quite underweight but has gained a pound and a bit in the past week. Her voracious eating has subsided, and she now adjusts well to the food given to her. She shows no resource guarding, though she will go after the resident dog’s food if left unattended!
Crate training: Patty is feeling more comfortable in her crate. She doesn’t often go in for comfort (she rarely needs it with her upbeat attitude), but once placed in there at bedtime or when I leave the house, she doesn’t make a sound.
Walks: Patty is great on walks! She loves sniffing and behaves quite well. We walk a lot in this house, and she’s never given up or asked to be carried. She’s a real trooper!
Chewing: Patty loves to chew—anything beefy, cheesy, or bone-like. Surprisingly, she hasn’t chewed on anything inappropriate. The idea of treats was foreign to her at first, but she’s catching on quickly and already understands her share of the “cheese tax.”
Vocalization: Patty isn’t excessively vocal. A daily, mandatory mailman greeting is about the extent of it. No begging, whining, or noticeable separation anxiety. She settles well in her crate and is her usual happy self when I return.
People & kids: Patty is good with people and children. She doesn’t try to be friends with everyone but doesn’t see anyone as a threat either, so she gets along just fine.
Other dogs: Patty is also great with other dogs, including larger ones. She’s submissive when needed and assertive when appropriate, navigating pack dynamics impressively well for her young age.
Car rides: Patty does fine in the car. As always, she prefers to be right beside you, so some sort of restraint for safety would be best.
House training: Patty arrived completely unhouse-trained, but the strides she’s made are incredible. With a little more time and consistency, she’ll get it with high confidence.
Patty is truly a sweet, lovable little lady. I can’t wait to see someone fall as madly in love with her as I have. 💕
