✨ Meet Josie! ✨
This sweet little lady came to us as a lab rescue, and while her past wasn’t the easiest, she’s quickly realizing she’s safe and loved - and every day more of her personality shines through! Josie is the kind of pup who will find “her person” in the family right away and happily become their little shadow.
Josie is affectionate, gentle, and absolutely adores attention from her people (and she’s not shy about asking for it!). She’s learning that “off” means “sit for cuddles” and is picking it up quickly. She’s also discovering her name, often coming when called with a whistle. Josie has excellent manners - she’ll sit politely for her leash or a treat, and she hasn’t tried to climb onto furniture or beds. She’s been impressively quiet, too - no barking in her crate or at other dogs. Being a bit older, she’s calm, easygoing, and doesn’t need constant potty breaks like a puppy.
Josie has shown some understandable anxiety after such a sheltered start in life. Big or unusual noises can spook her, and she’ll retreat to her safe place (her crate) when she needs a break. She truly loves her crate and sleeps soundly in it overnight or when left home alone. More and more, she’s exploring the house, lounging in the family room, or cozying up in a quiet corner. She’s also a blanket-and-stuffed-toy enthusiast - if you’re missing a throw pillow, check her bed!
When it comes to food, Josie has adapted well to regular meal times, happily eats her kibble, and is a total fan of liver treats. Recently, she discovered the joy of bacon and steak… and let’s just say they were instant favorites!
Josie enjoys her walks (2–3 a day, around 30 minutes each) and is fantastic on leash. She may pull if something startles her, but once guided past it, she settles quickly. She rides in the car, though she can be a bit anxious - and she hasn’t quite figured out that car windows aren’t for climbing through, so best to keep them rolled up.
We think Josie would thrive in a home with a steady level of activity where she can continue building her confidence and learning that new things aren’t so scary. She’d likely do well with respectful children of any age and hasn’t shown reactivity toward other dogs on walks. Cats are unknown, but likely fine.
