Dr. Jekyll (we call him Jay or Baby Jay) is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He truly has been such a pleasure to foster and I know he's someone's soul dog. He wants nothing more then to be loved by his people!
He's truly the perfect size - would be a great hiking or jogging buddy, but small enough to be a lap dog (if you'll let him!) on the sofa. His fur is softer then it looks.
Although they have estimated him to be 2, his energy and vibe seem younger. He has boundless excitement for play time and walks, but is able to settle quickly if it's snuggle time. We have laughed that if he could get under your skin it still wouldn't be close enough; this dog loves belly rubs, naps on the couch and will follow you from room to room just to be close.
Hes only had one accident in the house right at the start of his time here, otherwise I would consider him house trained and will potty quickly when in the backyard. He prefers to use the backyard but will go while on a walk if he needs.
Jay is happy in his crate and will sometimes go in during the day to rest but requires a treat to go in at night or when we are leaving the house. He is still doing a little whining but settles after about 5 minutes and is quiet until you let him out in the morning.
He gets along well with our 6 year old dog, although his excitable energy can sometimes be too much for her. He follows her lead and I think would love a older dog sibling to show him the ropes. He would also do well as an only dog- more attention for him! Has not been tested with cats but I have a feeling with the right introduction he would be ok.
He's treat and food motivated and we have been working on learning "sit" and "touch" (his snout to your hand). He wants your praise so badly that I think he will be a quick learner! He looks to you for reassurance in walks so a few times we have encountered something he isn't sure about (such as a reving engine or a loud garbage truck) he will look at me and wag his tail when I provide praise. Hasn't shown any resource guarding or aggression to me , my dog, or strangers. People and other dogs on our walk have been neutral or he has interest but is easily re-directable.
