Meet Fig 🍃
Fig:
- Medium Energy
- Does know basic commands, like "go lay down", "come", "sit". I think her recall is really good too but we've only tried it in the yard.
- Good with All size dogs and cats! We went for a pack walk yesterday with a chihuahua and our pittie. She seems to like all dogs, big or small and isnt pushy for them to be her friend right away. We also went for a walk on the weekend with my girlfriend and her cat, zero issues! She was actually scared of the cat at first, and then slowly just ignored it. Which is amazing!
- Dog playing - she likes to run or rough and tumble! But she does know if my dog tells her no or corrects her to stop playing.
- Good on walks! She will pull a bit if she sees a squirrel. Reminder, NO HARNESS. Fig hates her harness, we ditched it the second day and she was totally ready to go for a walk after that.
- Potty trained. We've had no issues in the house with her. She doesn't let us know when she wants to go to the bathroom, so we let her out frequently with our dog.
- Loves her stuffy toys! And lick mats!
- Great in her crate! She goes in her crate if I leave the house or at bedtime. She will go in around 930pm for bedtime and we wake up at 630am. No issues or whining at all!
- Loves all food, 100% needs to eat with her slow feeder or else I dont think she would actually chew her dinner, just inhale it.
-No food aggression.
- She does hunt for food! So until she becomes confident that she knows she gets a steady meal, whoever adopts her needs to keep food away.

Things to work on:
- Staying off, she tends to want to climb on your lap when you're just sitting there so we're working on staying off. We don't allow her on the couch or furniture as I don't know what potential adopters would like and she needs to learn boundaries without needing to crawl onto laps or chests.
- She is a tad scared of getting into the vehicle. She's great in the vehicle and exiting the vehicle. But if she knows shes going for a car ride, she flattens like a pancake and I have to carry her to the backseat. But we're working on it! I try everyday to go for a car ride just so we get over the fear...it is getting better slowly.
- Confidence. Whoever is Figs new forever family will need to work on confidence. She's come leaps and bounds since being with us for 8 days, she goes up stairs now, and in the backyard without coaxing. Before she would sit at the back door and not come onto the grass or play. Now she leads the way! But you can tell if we ask her to lay down while we eat or anything, shes gets scared/. She is timid. But she went from a VERY shy girl in only 8 days to a girl that likes to lead us on walks and initiate play with our dog so I dont think she will be timid for long.

All around, Fig is a little sweetheart. I think she would be great with a house with another dog, kids, cats, or anything. She seems to like to be around everyone. We had two friends over on Sunday for a bonfire, and within 5 mins she was sitting with one of my friends on the dual camping chair. So no stranger danger. The only suggestion I have for her new family is that they continue to walk her! We go for 30-40mins in the morning and 20-30 mins in the evening. We do have lots of play time in the backyard too. I would probably go for more walks if our older dog could handle it. I think she would become high energy if she didn't get her walks. She's not a couch potato, she will not be a good dog to just leave in the house or crate and ignore. She will need running time!
