Shila

Take by DT

Description

Female, 1-1/2 years, mixed breed

February 3, 2021:
We need an immediate experienced foster for Shila. She is absolutely terrified and needs someone with a lot of patience and understanding, someone who is willing to take the time to help her build her confidence. Shila was already fearful when we originally met her but a series of unfortunate incidents has reinforced her fear. It will take some time for her to come out of her shell. There are glimpses of who she really is but for now she does not trust anyone and will not let anyone near her. Her behavior is not aggressive, it is completely fear based where if in the situation of not being able to run, she will fight. Currently her behavior has been growling when anyone comes near but she has resorted to snapping if she feels threatened.

When left alone she will simply lay on her bed. She does use pee pads but has not actually been outside since arrival due to her behavior. She will need a drag leash at all times as you cannot easily get near her to attach a leash. BARCs will provide access to a trainer to help the foster sort through. For now Shila requires and home with no kids and no dogs so we can make sure everyone is as safe as possible for now until we know more what she is like. That would likely include no cats. She needs calm and quiet. She is current on diarrhea medication likely stress induced. At this point we don’t know if anything more medical is going on.

If you are willing to accept that she may have issues (potentially house training, fear, anxiety, etc.) and are willing to put relationship and trust building ahead of all that you are the person to help her.

Adoption costs: $600.00
