Yarrow
Yarrow is a sweet, kind, gentle pup. She would do well in almost any home, but she would especially enjoy a home with other furry friends to keep her company. Although she is still a puppy, Yarrow is a pro at reading body language. Her current best friend is a chihuahua mix who likes to chase Yarrow around the apartment. Yarrow understands that my toy poodle does not like chasing, so their play only involves sniffs and the odd cuddle. She is also very good with cats and gives my cat plenty of space.
Yarrow is beginning to get more social as she gets older and she has met a lot of the people in the neighborhood - if she is unsure of someone she will gently back away and has not barked at anyone. The few kids she has met she gives plenty of space to, but she is a larger dog, so supervised play around small kids would be best.
Yarrow has many interests she is very passionate about:
- Princess treatment: She REQUIRES belly rubs. Ideally 2-3x per day.
- She is an organizer of dog toys: She likes to choose her favorite squeekly toys and move them around the apartment.
- Short little runs: Her favorite eventing activity is going on small jogs around the neighborhood with her human. She does well on the running leash and gets better every day! Jogs are also a very important opportunity to sniff. There are so many interesting things for her to explore!
- Pig ears: These are her absolute favorite treats - but she doesn't mind sharing them with her doggy friends.
- Going out! Staying in all the time is boring. She likes to go to dog friendly places and meet people and other dogs. She is good in the car getting there, but also loves an outing within walking distance.
- Zoomies and naps! She likes to alternate between running around with her toys and snoozing. She thinks that any surface can be a bed if she gets creative enough.
Yarrow's main dislike is being bored - she is busy and curious about the world and wants her human to show her all the interesting things.
Currently Yarrow and I have been working on letting her continue to socialize. She was a bit shy in her youth, but that is very quickly changing! She does tend to pull on her leash a bit (like any puppy) but has been quickly learning when it is time to focus and follow along. We are continuing to work on her potty training: recently she has decided to use her doggy friends' pee pads so at least when she has an indoor incident she is respectful about it.
If you are a moderately active person who wants an activity buddy, Yarrow would fit in well with your home. She is the ideal fit for someone who has other dogs as she gets along very well with dogs of all sizes. She is OK with being left alone during the work day as long as someone stops by during the day to let her out and show her some love.
