🐾 Meet Tamara (aka “Waffle”)

Tamara, lovingly known as Waffle, is a high-energy, affectionate, and incredibly social girl who is immediately friendly with people and absolutely lives for cuddles. She wants to be right up on the couch with you, snuggled in close, and is always ready for attention, pets, and playtime.

Tamara will thrive in an active home that can help her burn off energy with daily play, running, or ball chasing. Another playful, well-matched dog in the home would be a big bonus, as it would help her expend energy and satisfy her love of interactive play. She’s smart, eager to engage, and learned “sit” in just one day.

She does tend to jump up when excited and likes to get very close to faces to give kisses, so continued training and gentle boundary work will help her succeed. She also gets cold quickly and would benefit from winter gear. Snow pants that fasten over her back work better than booties, which she tends to kick off while running.

🏡 Home & Crate Life

Tamara is crate trained and views her crate as a safe space. She prefers a bed with raised sides so she can snuggle against them and often puts herself in her crate willingly. She may whine if crated while people are home and active, but she settles well at night and likes sleeping in a room with someone, either crated or free-range.

She’s also comfortable being left for a couple of hours in a small room (such as a bathroom) with her crate, bed, water, and a pee pad.

🚽 Potty Training

Tamara’s potty training is going very well. She prefers to go outside and is close to being fully housebroken. Cold weather and loud noises can distract her, and she’ll sometimes poop but not pee before wanting to come back inside.

Using treats, clicker training, and a verbal cue like “go peepee” works extremely well. If she doesn’t go, warming up inside and trying again in about 10 minutes usually does the trick.

🐶 Dogs, Cats & Kids

Cats: Not suitable for a home with cats. She has a high prey drive and wants to chase and bark.

Other Dogs: Very dog-friendly and playful. She would do best with another dog who enjoys active play and can handle her enthusiastic, sometimes dominant energy. She does excited tippy-taps, yelps, play bows, and may put her paws up during play. Careful introductions are important. She may initially be defensive if another dog tries to take her food, toys, or enters her crate, though she has no resource guarding issues with humans. Ongoing training and supervision around shared resources are recommended.

Kids: She is scared of young children. A home with older teens or adults only would be best for her success.

🎓 Training & Handling Notes

Redirect training is recommended for barking at things seen through windows or fences

Harness required, as she can back out of a collar

No recall yet, so she must remain on leash

No soft, stuffed toys (she will destroy them and ingest stuffing)

💛 The Bottom Line
Tamara is sweet, affectionate, smart, great in the car, and deeply people-oriented. She wants to be someone’s best friend, couch companion, and adventure buddy. With structure, continued training, plenty of play, and ideally a canine companion, she’ll be an incredibly loyal and joyful addition to the right home.
