Meet Slinky, lovingly known as Stuart (aka Stu | Stuey | Stuey Louie)
This adorable Dachshund-x arrived from Bakersfield, California on the February 2026 transport, and he’s been gently (and a little timidly) discovering the good life ever since. It's been an absolute joy to watch him come out of his shell.
At around 3 years old and a perfect ~15 lbs, Stuart is truly cute as a button - the ideal size for couch snuggles and loyal companionship. He’s sweet as pie, a totally chill dude, and happiest when he’s near his humans (personal space is optional in his world).
Indoors, he’s calm and affectionate. Outdoors? Surprise - this little guy can run like a bullet. Zoomies may occur - quickly followed by a well-earned power nap (with all four feet in the air). On walks, he is steadily gaining confidence, and he's well on his way, though he’d benefit from a patient human who’ll help him keep building bravery one step at a time.
Stuart is house trained, highly treat motivated, and just learning what toys are for - which is honestly adorable to watch. He’s fine with his crate during the day, but evenings aren’t his favourite… he’d much rather be hanging out with you, preferably under the covers (and he will protest in his crate until released). When something scary appears (...vacuum cleaner), he may retreat under the bed to contemplate life choices and seek safety.
That said, as Stuart decompresses in his new home, he’s really coming into his personality - and it’s clear he’s got a bit of a sassy, mischievous streak, in all the right ways. He’s playful, clever, and knows how to make you laugh while still being the loving little companion he’s always been. He is a happy little guy.
He absolutely loves gentle affection - especially a good, soft ear twist - and would thrive with a calm, reassuring dog friend who can help show him how to fully embrace being a dog.
Sweet, gentle, funny, and endlessly loving, Stuart would make an excellent companion dog for a home ready to help him continue growing his confidence and fostering his playful side… and could very well be your mini-humans right-hand-man. He does well with other pups, and likely would do well with children. He is untested with cats.
Stu would be the most loyal companion & can't wait to accompany you on your adventures, all while making you laugh. He's the best little guy.
