Lyric is the kind of dog who settles easily into a home and brings a relaxed, steady presence with her. For a young adult, she has a wonderfully calm demeanor and great manners — she doesn’t jump up to greet guests and is happy to take things in stride.
She’s fantastic on leash and makes a great walking companion, and she especially enjoys getting out into nature for hikes. That said, Lyric does have a bit of a hunter’s instinct — she’s an impressive rodent catcher and will happily go on her own little “gopher patrol” if given the chance, so a secure, fenced yard is important for her safety.
Lyric is smart and eager to learn. She already knows “sit,” “down,” “come,” “leave it,” and “drop,” and because she’s very food motivated, she’ll thrive with continued training and positive reinforcement. She enjoys having a job to do and learning new things.
She gets along well with other dogs and would do well in a home with a canine companion or as a solo dog soaking up all the attention. She can live with older, dog-savvy kids who understand boundaries around food, as Lyric is known to be a bit of a counter surfer and has been known to sneak snacks when the opportunity arises.
