🐾💖 Meet Puffalump (aka Patty or Puffy!) 💖🐾
This tiny little girl was once a puffball — and with a little time, she’ll be one again. Puffalump arrived in Calgary from California on January 31, alongside 43 of her furry friends, after receiving a full shave before transport. Thankfully, we had an excellent collection of fashionable coats from a previous foster to keep her cozy through a YYC winter. Puffy is officially the best-dressed pup on the street. 🧥✨
She spent her first few days decompressing and getting used to this whole new concept called a home. It’s truly amazing to see the resilience these rescues show — even after just 10 days.
Puffy is cuddly, smart, curious, and happiest when she’s close to her people. 💕
✨ House & Daily Life
• Zero accidents in the house so far
• With a warm coat on, she heads outside for a quick pee, comes in for breakfast, then right back out for number two
• Having another dog around has helped show her the ropes
• Loves wandering the yard and exploring ice piles, logs, shrubs — the yard is fascinating to her
🍽️ Food & Training
• Eats well and isn’t fussy
• Has shown some food guarding with our other dog (who is very docile and non-dominant)
• We’ve been managing this by feeding on leash and in her own room — a work in progress, but we’ve already seen improvement
🚶♀️ Social & Routine
• Enjoys a good long morning walk alongside our dog
• Non-reactive to other dogs and welcomes visits, but definitely prefers the hoomans
• Has seen a cat on walks and did not react
• Loves front-window duty, watching the world go by
👶 Kids & Crate
• Has met three grandkids (ages 3, 4, and 5) and was gentle and sweet — they adored her
• Has been left in her crate for 3–4 hours during the day a few times; fusses briefly (whining/scratching) then settles
• Sleeps through the night in her crate, sometimes taking 3–4 minutes to settle, then not a peep
💤 Personality
• The snuggliest little soul — loves laps and bed snuggles
• Has learned to sit for a treat and shows great potential to keep learning
• Smart and eager
Puffy would do well in a home with another pet if food guarding continues to be worked on, or she would also be perfectly happy as the only dog. We already adore her 💕 — and soon she’ll look like the fluffy Shih Tzu mix she is. Fluffy Puffy incoming! 😄🐾
