Adoption in Progress
Male, 6 years, pit bull X, 76 lbs
Nikko is a magnificent pit bull. He is a very calm dog with low activity. He lives very good with all kind of dog sizes but we recommend that he coexist with other dogs of his size. He is not aggressive but as he is an alpha male, he could be a little bit territorial with other males.
Nikko was rescued from a place where he was tied up all the time. He was extremely malnourished and weighed only 22 pounds. He was very near to death with serious skin problems. He had terrible problems in his eyes and he needed an urgent operation in order to recover his sight. Nikko spent a lot of time in intensive care due to his malnutrition. After four months of care, he came to the shelter and now he is a strong pit bull and a very happy dog.
I recommend a family that know the breed and the care a pit bull needs, especially in their diet. It would be better a family with dogs of the same size as Nikko, preferably females to avoid any territorial problems with males. Nikko loves kids and he will be a loyal and excellent companion for the family.
This dog has just arrived in care and is currently unavailable for adoption. It will go into foster care for 1 week so we can get to know their personalities better. After the first week, we will post their adoption biographies and review adoption applications or announce that the foster provider has adopted them. At that time, if you would like to be considered in the event they are accepting applications, please fill out an adoption application.
Arrived from California February 17.
