πŸŽ„πŸΎ Meet Dasher! πŸΎπŸŽ„

Dasher is a super sweet, cuddly, and goofy boy who would love to be your sidekick, adventure buddy, and best friend all rolled into one!

At around 2 years old, he's found a wonderful balance between playful and relaxed. He's mature enough to chill on the couch or quietly hang out around the house, but he's always ready when it's time for a walk, a game, or a new adventure.

Physical touch is 100% Dasher's love language. If he could crawl inside his favourite humans for maximum cuddles, he absolutely would! Since that's not an option, he'll happily settle for belly rubs, snuggles, or simply resting a paw on you. He's still learning that excitement and affection don't need to involve a little nibbling or mouthing, but he's eager to please and responds well to guidance.

Dasher would thrive with a reasonably active person, couple, or family with older children who can provide consistent structure, clear expectations, and lots of love while he continues building confidence and learning about the world.

⭐ Dasher's Strengths

β€’ House trained and crate trained. He sleeps quietly through the night for about 9 hours in his crate or designated sleeping space.

β€’ Quite calm and relaxed around the house overall.

β€’ Comfortable being left alone for 6–7 hours.

β€’ Extremely eager to please and motivated by treats, toys, and cuddles. Bonus points if he gets all three at once!

β€’ Loves being involved in everything. Whether you're putting on shoes, doing chores, scooping poop, or watching TV, Dasher is there to help. He'll even watch television and tilt his head at interesting sounds and movement.

β€’ Learning great household manners and impulse control. He will quietly lie down at the door while you get ready and is learning to wait before heading outside.

β€’ Loves people and greets them with enthusiastic wiggles. He's met adults of all ages, including elderly neighbours, and is always excited to make new friends.

β€’ His favourite way to pass the time is relaxing. When he's bored, his default setting is usually to lie down and chill.

β€’ Absolutely loves toys and treats them like treasures. He enjoys carrying them around, chewing on them, and cuddling up with them on his human's lap. So far, he hasn't destroyed his stuffies or bedding.

β€’ Loves structured play, especially tug-of-war and chasing a flirt pole or ball.

πŸ“ What Dasher is Working On

β€’ Leash manners. He's doing a great job about half the time but still needs reminders when exciting smells, squirrels, rabbits, or other distractions appear.

β€’ Building confidence around other dogs. He initially showed some mild reactivity on walks but has already made impressive progress in foster care and can now calmly pass many dogs he encounters. Continued consistency and confidence-building will help him keep improving.

β€’ Becoming more comfortable with car rides. He's a willing but slightly unsure participant, and treats, affection, and positive experiences are helping him gain confidence.

β€’ Alerting the household to dogs passing by outside. He may give a single bark or occasional growl if he's concerned, but he relaxes quickly with reassurance and redirection. Interestingly, he doesn't bark when people come to the door!

β€’ Building confidence around certain noises and traffic. When he feels uncertain, he responds well to encouragement, treats, and creating a little extra space.

β€’ Continuing his training. Dasher already knows sit, take, this way, let's go, off, easy, and responds well to attention cues. He's currently learning give, down, go sniff, and gentle/no teeth.

β€’ Dasher has a strong prey drive for squirrels, rabbits, and fast-moving critters. He has not been tested with cats and would likely want to chase them.

β€’ While he has not yet had direct interactions with other dogs in foster care, slow introductions will be important. He may be selective with canine friends, and continued confidence-building will help him succeed.

❀️ Dasher is looking for someone who will continue helping him learn, grow, and gain confidence. In return, you'll get an affectionate, goofy, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be involved in your life and loved by his people.
