Meet Alfredo 🐾
Alfredo is a sweet, sensitive boy with a heart of gold who's looking for a patient family willing to let him blossom at his own pace. Once he trusts you, he'll happily become your loyal shadow, following you from room to room and making sure he's always close by.

Long walks on quiet neighbourhood pathways where he can sniff and explore.
Chasing a ball outside.
Gentle massages.
Dried liver treats and cheese (he's not a fan of soft training treats).
Playing with ice cubes and splashing in the hose on warm days.
Helping with chores—whether it's "assisting" with laundry, gardening, or digging weeds, Alfredo loves being part of whatever you're doing!
Stealing shoes and slippers whenever he gets the chance.
Riding in the car—he's an excellent travel companion and is always up for an adventure.

People reaching toward him to pet him before he's comfortable.
Loud noises, buses, and fast-moving traffic.
Meeting unfamiliar dogs head-on while out on walks.
🐕 Other Pets & Children
Alfredo would do best as the only pet in the home. He has struggled with larger dogs and has not yet been tested with smaller dogs. While he has shown curiosity toward cats, he becomes excited when they move, so a home without cats would be best unless an experienced adopter is willing to work through slow introductions.
Although Alfredo has shown curiosity toward children, his shy and skittish nature means he would be happiest in an adult-only home or one with older, calm teenagers who understand how to respect his space.
🏡 Ideal Home
Alfredo is looking for a quiet, predictable home with someone who is home much of the time. He forms a very strong bond with his person and enjoys their company. While he does vocalize when his favourite person leaves, he settles within a few minutes if someone else is home to keep him company.
His ideal family will be patient, understanding, and committed to continuing his confidence-building journey.
✨ Quirks You'll Love
He has a hilarious "helper" personality and insists on supervising (or participating in!) household chores.
He's incredibly expressive and will happily have little "conversations" with you, complete with howls that might remind you of a Husky.
He doesn't bark at the mail carrier—a rare talent!
He knows his routine well and politely waits while his harness is put on, waits at the door before walks, and waits for you on the stairs.
💙 Training & Behaviour
Alfredo has made wonderful progress but is still learning that the world is a safe place.
He's sensitive to unfamiliar situations and can become frightened by loud noises or new environments. If startled on a walk, he may try to back out of his harness, but with reassurance and a moment to regroup, he's able to continue.
He is also working on his leash manners and his reactions to other dogs. He currently does best when given plenty of space from passing dogs, and with continued positive reinforcement, he continues to improve.
House training is still a work in progress. Alfredo is doing well at home, but if he's feeling anxious, he may have an accident. Consistency and patience will help him continue to succeed.

🐱 Good with cats?
Not recommended at this time. He has shown interest in playing but becomes overly excited and would require a very experienced home if cats were present.
🐶 Good with dogs?
Currently no. Alfredo is reactive toward larger dogs and has not yet been assessed with small dogs.
👧 Good with children?
He would do best in an adult-only home or with older, calm teenagers due to his shy and sensitive personality.
🚗 Good in the car?
Absolutely! Alfredo is an excellent passenger and loves coming along on adventures.
🦮 Good on leash?
He's making great progress. While he can pull and react to dogs, he's learning to walk on a loose leash, regularly check in with his handler, and enjoys his daily walks.
