🐾 Meet Chimichurri (Charlie)! 🐾

Chimichurri, or as his foster mom calls him, Charlie, is a quiet, loving, well-behaved pup who is just looking for his forever family.

Charlie has been experiencing some separation anxiety, but with patience, trust, and security, he has been making progress every day. He is house trained, excellent on walks, and truly loves everyone and everything.

Charlie currently lives with an older, smaller foster sister, and we think he secretly wishes she were a little more playful with him. He has shown no negative reaction to men and absolutely loves children. In fact, he could sit and watch kids playing forever, and when he gets the chance to meet them, he’s happiest curled up in their laps. Truthfully, that goes for most humans — Charlie loves to cuddle, but unlike some pups, he’s not much of a licker. 👍

Although he can still be a little nervous about exploring the yard on his own, he does enjoy lounging in the sunshine on the deck. He will happily do his business if you take him for a walk around the yard on leash.

The crate was not Charlie’s friend at first, especially when his separation anxiety was at its peak. But with a few days of bonding and a lot of patience, he now accepts his nightly crate routine and can also be crated for a few hours when his foster is out of the house. At this stage, he would not do well being left alone for long periods, as he is still in the early stages of working through his separation anxiety.

Charlie is also learning commands and is a quick study. He already knows sit 👍 and is currently working on stay and off. Every now and then he gets the zoomies, which can include a little jumping and racing around on the furniture. In his usual calm state, though, he waits to be invited up onto the couch or chair. He hasn’t been allowed on the bed, mostly because the resident Chihuahua has made it very clear that this is her territory and she fully intends to defend it from all dogs and cats alike. 😄

Charlie’s forever family will need to be, first and foremost, patient and understanding as he continues to work through his separation anxiety, and secondly, ready to give him all the love and attention he so sweetly deserves.

In return, Charlie will be endlessly grateful and love his people with his whole heart. ❤️
